ASB Reports: August 2022
Sofia Grewal
Renaissance and Link Crew Coordinator
Sep 1, 2022
Position Assessment:
Starting off sophomore year in leadership has been very different than Freshman year. The First thing I was involved in was Freshman orientation. For this event, Morty had much of the details in order, the only thing that me and my crew needed to work on were the name tags. We made all the name tags for the incoming freshmen and new students along with sorting them into groups. By doing this, setting up freshmen orientation went very smooth because we didn’t have to worry about writing them the day of. We sat down at Starbucks and knocked them all out in one sitting. On the day of freshman orientation, I got to be a link crew leader as a sophomore. It was a really fun experience and I got to tell the incoming freshmen about my tips and tricks of getting through freshman year. After the tour, we sat in a classroom and did a bunch of different activities. One of those activities was having the freshman write their names and addresses on postcards. Recently, I have been going through some of the cards and making sure they could be stamped. When I was going through them, I noticed a lot of freshmen didn’t know their address or wrote all the important information at the top and not in the middle. Another very important thing I did so far was choosing the 2 students of the month. While doing this, we considered the qualifications we were looking for in a candidate. After we picked Chetan and Asia, we came up with a list of questions for their interviews. We emailed both of them to let them know that we had chosen them for student of the month and scheduled a date to do the interviews. After the interviews were complete we made a publicity post along with an announcement form, so they would both be recognized as students of the month. Along with doing all the tasks my personal job consists of, I also helped with the dance and rally by being part of different committees.
Standing Committee:
I am not a part of any standing committees at the time.
Special Committee:
In the month of August I have been a part of the tape committee of the rally. For this committee I was able to cut out pieces of tape for students to put on their phones. This consisted primarily of cutting pieces of tape and sticking them onto parchment paper. These pieces of tape were handed out during fourth period and looked really cool at the black light rally.
Mentorship Evaluation:
This year my partner in the mentorship program is Heaven. Last year Dillan was my mentor, and this year I am the mentor to Heaven. So far it’s been great, Heaven isn’t afraid of asking questions and I am always willing to help. As for what we have done outside the leadership program, we went out for lunch and got a really good chat. Even though I am Heaven’s mentor in the leadership program, she gives me really good advice on anything outside the leadership program. She is a senior so she has a lot more experience than me when it comes to highschool life. It’s been a great balance between the two of us and I feel like we both have things that we can teach each other.
Concerns:
My main concerns are just with the paperwork. I haven’t really been responsible for a lot of paperwork, but I have heard that it has not been turned in on time and that’s a problem we have to fix, or else events won’t run as smoothly. Another concern I have is for the Freshmen. I sat right next to them and they were talking to each other while Morty was trying to explain Homecoming to the class. Because they didn’t pay attention, they are going to be very lost and not prepared for homecoming. I hope they start doing a better job of paying attention because if they don’t their plans for homecoming will fall through.
Positive Comment:
My positive comment is for Aliezeh Ali. This year I have the opportunity to work with her and she has been on top of it every step of the way. During freshman orientation, she made sure all the groups were made and that we had everything prepared ahead of time. Also she sends out reminders that are very helpful to me because I have a lot on my plate and those daily reminders are nice. Aliezeh is so organized and honestly I strive to be like her one day. She handles so many things and still exells in all of them. I hope she keeps this momentum going throughout this year because we are really going to need it.
Change:
As we go into homecoming, one change I would like to see is better organization. As I have mentioned before in my concerns, a lot of paperwork has not been turned in and I believe that is a result of lack of organization. Homecoming is going to be overwhelming regardless, but the stress aspect of homecoming can be lowered simply from being organized. Organization is crucial in the upcoming weeks as we dive head first into planning for homecoming.
Impact:
My impact so far has been trying to help the freshmen and all the other new people in leadership. Leadership can be hard and difficult to navigate as someone new to the program, so I’m trying to help them as much as I can. I think being able to help others is an important part of leadership because we are a family and we don’t leave each other behind.

ASB Reports: September upto Homecoming
Sofia Grewal
Renaissance and Link Crew Coordinator
October 17, 2022
Position Assessment:
September was a crazy busy month. As a renaissance and link brew coordinator, things were pretty light but I did have a couple of assignments. We emailed and communicated with Mr. Range and asked when would be a good time to meet with him regarding the renaissance program, but we still haven’t heard back from him. Other than that, my team and I also chose the students of the month for the month of september. We asked Mr. Felver for recommendations and then we selected the two students he recommended. In the future we hope to go through the same process just with a different teacher every month. After choosing two students for the month, I interviewed them during lunch and we put together an announcement form and a publicity form to be posted on instagram. Other than doing my job as a renaissance and link crew assistant, I also helped out with the sophomore class homecoming. I was in charge of choreographing our class lip sync. Gaby, Gia, and I met outside of school to choreograph the lip sync and we got it done relatively fast. After we finished the routine, we set up a remind with everyone who signed up to participate in the lip sync. The first order of business was to establish what outfits we were going to wear. We decided on a white shirt paired with a golden skirt for the girls and all black for the guys. We got this part done as fast as we could because we didn’t want anyone's outfits to arrive late. And then we set up dates to meet up and practice. We practiced through multiple lunches and it went very smoothly because most people showed up. And then we had one big practice at my house on a saturday with everyone. We cleaned up all the moves and went over formations and it went very well. Overall, this year's lip sync was much better than last year and it was still hectic but it was so much more organized. I also helped the sophomore class officers with decorating everything for homecoming. I spent countless hours with the other sophomores at Claire's house decorating and prepping for homecoming. I was there everyday we decorated and it ran very smoothly because Claire had everything organized. Overall, homecoming was a real world wind and I tried to help with everything that I was able to and this year was definitely one to remember.
Standing/Special Committees:
For homecoming, I was a part of several committees. The first one I was a part of was coorantation committee. In this committee we made sure that all the details for the candidate reveal rally and crowning ceremony were finalized. I tried my best to help with everything, but I wasn’t able to do much because I was a part of powderpuff. The next committee I was a part of was the lip sync committee. I was in charge of this committee along with Gaby and Gia. As I mentioned before, we choreographed the entire dance as well as communicated with everyone and coordinated their outfits. I am so glad that I was a part of this committee because dance is my passion and even though this was a different style of dance, I still got to portray my passion in Homecoming and it was really full. It was also a lot of work trying to manage 20 something sophomores. I’m so glad that I had the help of my sophomore team and I couldn’t have asked for a better group to work with. Along with those two, I was also part of all the decoration committees that were involved with homecoming. I helped decorate the gym, the window, the lemonade stand, and the float. These all took a lot of commitment and time but in the end, everything turned out really cute.
Mentorship Evaluation:
Heaven has been such a great mentor buddy to have during this school year. This is my first time being the mentor in the pairing and I’m trying my best to make sure that Heaven has all the resources to be successful. I have been reminding her of everything that is due because of everything crazy going on and I’m hoping that it is helpful. I have gotten to know Heaven more and she is such a sweet and caring person. I am so proud of how she has been doing in her job position, I always love seeing her out there running the rallies. I think that she is doing a terrific job managing such an important job in leadership while being new and I hope she continues to do amazing things!
Concens:
One concern I have with leadership is just the lack of everyone getting along. I feel like there was definitely some tension between the class during homecoming. If we don’t get along there is no way we can work together efficiently. There have been some issues involving people not fulfilling all their responsibilities, and I hope that as we go forward through the year, these issues will be resolved. As an entire class, we definitely need to work better together and communicate with each other so we can minimize conflicts.
Positive Comment:
I would like to give my positive comment to Gia Grewal. Gia has worked so hard during homecoming. She put in so much effort into everything like the lip sync, and decorating all items for homecoming. On top of that she stayed incredibly organized and made sure that the procedure form was in top shape. Her procedure form was incredibly detailed and she did not fail to make sure that everything was mentioned in it. Throughout homecoming, she also sent constant reminders everyday to make sure everyone was on top of their game. Along with that, she was also a great help to me. I would always come back from games and I would be exhausted and she would remind me of everything I had to get done. No one else has ever done this for me and I don’t think that I would have made it through homecoming without her. She is always so on top of everything and I am so grateful to have her in my life.
Change:
One change that I would like to see would be more efficiency in class from everyone in leadership. Most people are working really hard on workdays to make sure that they get everything done, but there are still some people that are wasting that valuable time that is given to get stuff done. Also, I know we get a lot of work in leadership and on top of other classes, that can be hard but we do get time in class to get these things done. I really hope that more people start taking this time more seriously and getting work done. I personally am so grateful for this time, because with sports and everything going on, I don’t get home until late at night and I appreciate the time to get work done at school. I really hope that we don’t get work days taken away and I hope everyone uses them wisely.
My Impact:
I always struggle with this section, but this time I am proud of what I did for my peers and community. Being in charge of the lip sync was by far my favorite part of homecoming. I was able to help get my peers involved while doing a dance that was fun and inclusive. I felt that everyone shone in the dance and that everyone had fun. This also gave the parents something fun to come out and watch. I had many parents come up to me and say how much the loved the dance. I am so happy that I was able to give them something entertaining to watch. The support at the lip sync from the student body was also so great. So many people showed up to come support and cheer on our dances and I was so happy that I was able to contribute the the pride of our student body.

ASB Report: October November
Sofia Grewal
Renaissance and Link Crew Assistant
Nov 16, 2022
Position Assessment
The months of October and November have been busy ones. As far as my position goes, one of the things that I have accomplished is the student of the month selection for the months of November and October. In October, our students, Harleen and Harsimran were chosen. I conducted an interview with Harleen and got to know more about her. After this, I made the publicity posts for the ASB accounts on instagram to showcase our two students of the month. I have also begun a similar process for the month of November. Because we have so many breaks in the month of November, we won’t have much time in the future to choose out students of the month so we have begun the process of recognizing our students of the month. My team and I will conduct the interviews and then Alizeh will finish the publicity. I recently worked on the announcement form for student of the month and now it is done and turned in. Another thing that I have accomplished in my job position is the development of study buddy night. This was one of the bigger events that renaissance and link crew is in charge of. For this, my team and I had a couple meetings regarding study buddy night. We have our PO for the snacks that will be provided. Alizeh also wanted to do a layout of the room and sort it into a subject, but that is a matter we need to discuss further. We have also started preparing for the publicity side of study buddy night. I have made publicity posts that have been scheduled to be sent out at curtain times. Alizeh has also made email drafts for each group that is involved in study buddy night. Those drafts have been sent to Morty for her to review. The hot chocolate social is another event that link crew assists with is the hot chocolate social. For this, we have made a PO for marshmallows and candy canes that are to be provided the night of the hot chocolate social. Other than fulfilling my job position, I was also involved in a variety of events that will be mentioned below.
Dude Be Nice
My task for dude be nice week was relatively simple. I made a card for Mrs. Van Vuren which was pretty easy given that I knew her really well. This was a very fun experience and seeing the pure hoy on Ms. Van Vurens face was so worth it in the end. I was also a part of the rally and the process of handing Ms. Van Vuren with cards and just showing her how loved she is by not just leadership, but the entire student body.
Warm and Fuzzy
For warm and fuzzy week I am a team leader for the door decorations. Because I am the team leader, I have been given the responsibility of communicating with my team along with getting the bows and tags for the actual doors. Not much else can be done for door decorating at this point given that the list for doors hasn’t been made yet.
Standing Committee
I am not a part of any standing committees at this time
Special Committee
One special committee that I have been involved with is for My Intent. I am one of the group members that is in charge of the whole my intent project. April is the group leader and so far we have accomplished a few things. A PO for the actual bracelets themselves was turned and and everything is set on that end. I made an announcement form for the sale of the bracelets that will be happening during warm and fuzzy week. We have also filmed for my intent video. I was able to watch the interview of Brett Shaw in order to learn how to do it for next year. The video was recorded by tech and I am very grateful for that. For community service, I have signed up to help at Colony Oak on Friday. Finally, for CASl, I have been working with my team in order to make sure that our segment is really good. As of right now I have finished my part and Jenna, who is my team leader, is just tying every paragraph together and fixing them so they flow.
Positive Comment
One positive comment I have is for the juniors. The juniors did a really great job at planning dude be nice week and it was a huge success. I loved seeing Ms. Van Vuren showered in girts and her smile was just so big. Dude be nice wouldn’t have been such a big success if it weren’t for the hard work from the Junior class. Another positive comment I have is for Makenzie. It is evident that she is so hard working in every aspect. She always does her best to make sure that not only is she doing her part, but that everyone else in leadership is also doing their part. She was also gone for a couple of days because of her injuries, but she didn’t even waste a single minute. Furthermore, she even came to participate in the Ruby Bridges walk when she had a sprained ankle. I am so grateful to have Makenzie and she is doing an outstanding job.
Change
One change I would like to see in this program is more bonding. I know there are a few people that get along really well with each other but then again there are those people who haven’t really talked to each other. I am apart of this group, I have made so many new bonds within the leadership program but I still don’t feel like I really know everyone. This is something that will hopefully come with time and as we go through more memories. Another change I would like to see is more effort put into actually working on work days. There are so many people that are actually getting stuff done but there are also a few that don’t stay on task. Work days are incredibly helpful and I want to continue to get them in the future so I hope that everyone will stay on task.
Concern
One concern I have is the lack of effort that was being put into the work days by some people. As I mentioned before, there are so many people who use the work days to their advantage and actually work, but others slack off. My concern is that these work days will be taken away if not everyone remains on task. These work days really help me communicate with my team and make sure that we are on the same page, so I do not want these work days to be taken away.
My Impact
I joined the leadership program again this year because I really felt how much we were doing for the student body. Unlike the members of leadership, the student body doesn’t get to see all the work that goes on behind the scenes. I wanted to be apart of all that hard work again so I joined this program one more. Also, when working behind the scenes, the end results just seem that much better. One impact thar I have made is making sure that I am on top of everything when it comes to my job, so Morty doesn’t have to worry about my job. This is also relevant to other aspects. When I am given a job that is outside of my job position, I try to finish is as soon as possible so that the team leader doesn’t have to stress out. Overall, I stay on top of my game so I don’t put more pressure on those around me.

ASB Report: November

Renaissance and Link Crew Coordinator
Nov 15, 2022
Position Assessment:
The months of November and December were crazy busy. As far as helping my class goes, my main job was just to aid my class officers with the set up with Winter Formal. On the day of Winter Formal, we set up from 8:00 am and finished at 1:30 ish. Yeah, it took that long. Most of it consisted of inflating balloons and making our giant letters. I think that we worked really efficiently when we set up, there were maybe some things that we could’ve done before but I think that the Sophomore officers did a really great job at organizing the event and the setup. As for my job, I was a part of many things. One constant in my job is to be student of the month. For November, our students of the month were Silas Morris and Jade Diaz. For this, we had to email our recipients and set up an interview with them. After doing so, we also had to make all the publicity posts and make sure that we did everything early on in the month because we were on break for so long. Another big part of my position was planning study buddy night. I am currently at study buddy night working on this report and I would say that it was such a big success. There are so many people that showed up and actually got work done. I also got a lot of work done and I am so happy with how everything turned out. Working with Gabby and Alizeh was so easy and we had so many things done so far in advance that I wasn’t stressed about a single thing. We all like to be on top of everything and that really helped this event be as perfect as possible. We also have been working on the procedure form for the event and all we need to get done is to print everything out and do our after action report. Another thing that I helped out with was door decorating. I was a group leader this year and for the most part I think that it went well. I had a few communication issues with my team, but that was only because they were absent. I wanted to shout out both Callie and Allie because they were both so willing to help with anything I need them for. I was able to cut out the basic layout before and the process of putting up the wrapping paper went much smoother and faster than last year. Finally, the last major thing that I was a part of was the My Intent project. I was in charge of the announcements for the selling of the bracelets. I also sold the bracelets for 2 days during lunch. During the time of My Intent, April taught Gia, Kiely, and Myself how to make the bracelets and we were able to practice for next year. These past few weeks have been really packed.
Standing Committee:
I am not a part of any standing committees at this time.
Special Committee:
The First standing committee that I am a part of is the My Intent committee. In this committee I was able to learn how to physically make my intent bracelets. I was also a part of the announcements and the actual selling of the bracelets itself. I think that selling the My Intent bracelets was a success and very impactful. I also feel like I am prepared for next year, if I make the program, to run the event. Another special committee that I am a part of, is the door decorating committee. For this I was group leader and I assigned roles to each of my group members to make sure that they were contributing and the set up was much better than last year.
Mentorship Evaluation:
Heaven is willing to ask for help when she needs it and so far everything is going well. I think that we can spend more time together even though we have busy schedules. We’ve been to lunch together but I think that we can do more together so I hope I’ll be able to do more with her in the coming months.
Concerns:
The concern I have is for myself. I feel that I need to do a better job managing my time. I always get my work done on time but there are times when I could be doing work but I just need a break. Another contributing factor is soccer and I feel like I am lacking as a student because of my other commitments outside of school. Even in leadership, I think that I can get things done faster and more efficiently.
Positive Comment:
My positive comment is for my renaissance team. While planning study buddy night, I was never stressed because we work so well together. Most things that we needed to do were done way in advance. This made setting up and cleaning up nice and easy. Overall, and our first event together I think it was a really big success. Also for student of the month, we each have our roles and that makes it very easy to get it done easily every month. I also have a positive comment for the freshmen. They have really picked it up and their holiday tree was so cute. They seem to really be working much better together and I am really proud of them.
Change:
One change I would like to see is for more people to have the opportunity to step up. I know I have gotten the chance to step up and be a team leader and I am so grateful for that. It showed me a different perspective in leadership because everyone was coming to me for their questions and it made me happy. Other than that, I think some people can do a better job at staying on task in class. The class is usually really loud and people tend to get off topic really quickly. That’s just something we need to work on as a class.
My Impact:
My impact for this month was being able to put on study buddy night for our student body. Our main goal when planning study buddy night was making sure that everyone who showed up felt included. Not only that, but we also wanted to make sure to give a designated time for people to study because it would take some stress off people before finals. I know personally I felt that study buddy night really helped me get work done and I am hoping that it did the same for all the other students that were there.

Renaissance and Link Crew Coordinator
February 5, 2023
Position Assessment:
The month of January, like every other month, has been a really busy one. Starting off with my position in leadership as Renaissance and Link Crew Coordinator, one of the biggest tasks that I had to tackle was starting the planning process of 8th grade welcome day. For this, we have many things that we need to accomplish and I am hoping to have a meeting with Morty soon. Purchase orders need to be turned in and for that we need to know exactly what to order. We also have to deal with the BBQ situation and talk to the AG department about that. Another thing that I have been involved in is Link Crew. Because a new group of Link Crew leaders are coming in, my team and I needed to design a t-shirt. We had an idea of what we wanted and as soon as we got onto IZA design we were able to design a nice shirt. Going along with Link Crew another thing that occurred were link crew applications. Before the process of people applying could occur, we had to make sure that the application was up to date. We tweaked the application a bit and finally gave it back to Morty to review. After that was all done, I made sure to make a public announcement for the link crew meeting and then the meeting was help.I was present at the meeting and made sure that everyone had their questions answered and was there to be a resource if anyone needed it. Outside of my job, I was plenty involved in leadership. The biggest thing during the month of January was Winterfest. During Winterfest, I was present at every single day of decorating and setting up. Although the results weren’t what I expected, it was still a memorable experience getting to decorate. Even though I was involved with all of the decorations for winterfest, the biggest thing I was put in charge of was the lip sync. This was a whole process between Gia, Gaby, and myself. The first step was to make a mix. We made a google doc that was shared with all the Sophomores that requested their input on the songs for our dance. We had a few complications in our mix but we were able to get that sorted out with Spencer and get our final mix in. After this, we all met after school to choreograph a dance and we were able to finish it in about two hours. The flow of our songs was really good and I am thankful that so many sophomores signed up. It was so much fun teaching them the dance and overall it was a great experience. Another thing I have been involved with is planning Gallery of the Arts. For this, April is the main person in charge and Gia and I are still learning the ropes of it. Some things we have accomplished so far are getting the prizes for each of our winners, talking to both Felver and Bowers, and making the groups for set up. We still have a few things to accomplish but we are on the path to success. Lastly, I have been able to plan my own campaign for next year in leadership. It has been a fun process and I can’t wait to see how it unfolds.
Standing Committee:
One standing committee I have been a part of is Link Crew. This is a part of my job but it also qualifies as a standing committee. Gabby, Alizeh and I have been able to get other students involved as we move forward with planning and executing 8th grade day at Ripon High School.
Special Committee:
A special committee that I am currently involved with is Gallery of the Arts. For this committee, April is the head person in charge and GIa and I are the trainees for it. So far we have accomplished many tasks. We have talked to Bowers regarding the mediums that will be used along with the setup process of the event. He liked it last year and wants to keep it the same. We also confirmed that Felver has a guest speaker and he is really excited about it. Another thing that we did recently was order prizes for our top three artists. After that we were able to discuss more details like who’s making the flyers and our whole QR code situation. Finally, we were able to make the groups.
Mentorship Evaluation:
This semester my new mentor is Payton. I am so glad I got partnered with Payton because I have been able to learn so much about her. She is such an easy person to talk to and has really interesting points of view. We were able to go to Coffee House for lunch together and it was amazing. On the way there we talked about multiple things. One of the things we talked about was almond blossom. Because Payton was on the almond blossom court she was telling me about her experience. I loved hearing about her experience. With elections coming up we also talked about our campaign plans. She told me all about her posters and she had such creative answers. I was able to learn so many new things about Payton and I’m so glad I got paired with her. I can’t wait to finish off the semester being mentor buddies with her and get to know more about her.
Concerns:
One concern that I have is the lack of focus from people in class. It’s disappointing to see some people working so hard to get things done but then so many other people just goofing off. It’s not fair to those that are actually working to have to suffer the consequences of others that are off task. There are so many things that we can get done in class but some people just choose not to. It’s not that there is a lack of work because everyone should always have something to work on but rather it’s the fact that most people choose to ignore their work until the very last minute. I try to use every minute of class because I know that I don’t get home until very late but I wish other people would too.
Positive Comment:
My positive comment is for Gia. I know she is my sister but she really deserves this one. Gia is one of the most hardworking people I know. Maybe it’s because I get to see all the hard work she puts in behind the scenes or maybe it’s something else, regardless the fact that she is a hard worker remains the same. Gia always goes the extra mile to ensure that our class has everything it needs to be successful. She is constantly reminding everyone what they need to get done and organizing everything to make it easier on us. I don’t even know how she is able to get everything done but she makes it look effortless. Her job is one of the hardest jobs there but she does it so incredibly well.
Change:
The change I would like to see goes along with my concern. I want to see more people working in class. Morty has been so gracious to offer us several work days over the course of the year, but they have not been used by all members of leadership. It’s okay to goof off and have fun but there is a time and a place for it and a work day is not the time and place. I want to see less people making TikToks and more people actually being productive and using their time wisely. In the month of February I really hope to see a better work ethic from everyone.
My Impact:
My impact this month has been surrounded around winterfest and the lip sync. By choreographing and easy dance, I was able to help many members of my class get involved. I didn’t expect to see the number of people that I did but I was so glad to have so much participation. Because we had so much participation, we must have done something right, whether it was executing the homecoming lip sync really well or even just publicizing the lip sync a lot. I was able to make sure that everyone in the dance was seen for how much effort they put in. It was not easy to get so many sophomores to be in sync but somehow Gia, Gaby, and I did it and I am so beyond grateful for the two of them and my Sophomore class.
ASB Report: February 2023
SOFIA GREWAL
RENAISSANCE AND LINK CREW COORDINATOR
MAR 3, 2023
1) Throughout the past couple months, I have been involved in various committees and teams in order to accomplish several different goals. One committee that I am a part of is the Gallery of the Arts. For this, April is the main person in charge so I am really trying to shadow her in order to run the event successfully next year. I made the brochure for the event as well as set up a QR code with Davina in order to get funds for our music and art programs. Along with that, I have also done other little tasks but my main goal is to learn from April and make sure everything is good to go.
Another committee I have been a part of in the end of the year dance committee. My main responsibility in this committee is to take care of all things regarding the snowcone and popcorn machines. By this, I mean that I was in charge of ordering things like butter and ice so we can actually make the popcorn and snow cones. Other things I had to order included snowcones and popcorn bags, as well as spoons and napkins. I still need to formally request water from Savemart and I am currently working on that process.
Finally, I have been a part of the staff appreciation committee. For this, Alizeh is the head and she just sorted the staff members into categories so I was able to see mine. For this committee we have to wait until our stuff gets here and is approved so until then we just have to hang tight.
2) During the week of the challenge, I am responsible for getting PO’s in for the snowcone and popcorn machines in, as I stated previously. I was able to get these PO’s turned into Jenna, the team leader, before the end of the week. I have the form to request water from Savemart drafted, now I just need to wait for Morty to print it on the letterhead for me and then I will go and formally ask for water cases. For the actual presentation itself, I am in charge of the staff appreciation slide alongside Alizeh. This slide has already been completed. Alizeh and I each discussed which parts of the slide we are doing and we stuck to the 5 by 5 rule. We are practicing our slide presentation on Friday so we should be good to go by Monday. I also had a hand in helping to plan the lunchtime activity as well as brainstorming an incentive to go along with it. More about this activity will be presented with the challenge slides on Monday.
3) The week of the challenge one major thing I will be in charge of is transporting the water and the ice to the amphitheater for the dance. Because ice melts easily I will need to put it in coolers and transport it to the school. As far as the waters goes, when I formally request water cases for the event, I will arrange a pick up date and time with them. During the in class time when Morty was away, I have been working to communicate with team leaders of everything I have been getting done as well as getting my other assignments completed as well.
4) One of the biggest pros to the week of the challenge was the organization. Mackenzie started off the challenge with an organized document of each committee as well as what the responsibilities of each committee was. I am able to always look at the document and am able to see what everyone is working on. Along with this document, there is also another document that has all the purchase information. This document includes the links and pictures to everything that we are buying. Another pro was that there are a lot of people that are stepping up that haven’t really before. I love to see how everyone is getting involved and how they are going above and beyond for their tasks.
5) One con that I saw during this week was that some people were getting distracted with other things not concerning leadership. It is reasonable to take breaks but some of these breaks seemed to last forever. However, we have improved a lot from other points in the year. Part of the reason may be because we have so much work to do or it may just be that we have learned and are growing as leaders.
6) In the presentation about the challenge I will be responsible for presenting about the staff appreciation committee and what its purpose is. The slide is shared by me and Alizeh. The part I will be presenting is what the actual purpose of the committee is and then Alizeh will go into more depth about the materials and everything. This slide is all completed and ready to go. We will practice it on Friday and officially present it on Monday.
7) Overall, I think this event is overall a great event. We are trying new aspects that the student body has been wanting for a while so hopefully everything goes according to plan. There are multiple reasons as to why I believe this event is a good one and one of those includes the way we are planning it. Our planning system is very organized and everyone has a role in planning the challenge which helps the effectiveness of our event.
8) I definitely think that the class will be more successful in planning this year's event compared to last year. Already, we have done so much more work to begin with than we did last year. Something different this year is that we also have communication with each other. As we have been working with the challenge, we have done multiple debriefs in order to know where everyone is at in the planning process. This year I have a bigger role in planning the challenge so I feel like I am more aware of the things that need to get done. Another thing that has been done really well is the delegation of jobs. Many people are stepping up and filling positions to help with the challenge and it’s great. Not only are people listening to Makenzie’s ideas, but they are taking her ideas to the next level and going above and beyond in order to make our event great.
9) To peers who do not follow through with their responsibilities, I believe that they should be marked down on their own evolution. Everyone had a role in the challenge and it’s important to remember that everyone is trying their best to fulfill their roles so it’s not completely fair to punish everyone because of one person’s mistake. I know that we are a leadership family and that if we fail, we fail together, but it’s not fair to the people who are working really hard to put on a great event. Leadership is a big commitment and if my peers aren’t willing to complete what they committed to then they aren’t in the right place. Not only with the challenge, but with other events as well, leadership requires a lot of time and energy. In order for leadership to run like a well oiled machine, everyone needs to complete their responsibilities.
10) My favorite part of the challenge as far as executing it are the letters to the teachers. I love the idea of writing personalized letters to each and every one of our teachers on campus. So many of them really don’t get paid enough for how much work and effort they put into their job. When writing the letter I want to make sure that my teacher knows that she is appreciated. Letters are a good way to let our teachers know that we care about them and recognize everything that they do. My favorite thing that is occurring within the challenge is the end of the year dance. I know we don’t make any money off of it, but the fact that it costs no money for people to go is great. Everyone deserves to have an end of the year celebration for all the hard work they have put into the school year, and a free dance is a great way to do that.
Another committee I have been a part of in the end of the year dance committee. My main responsibility in this committee is to take care of all things regarding the snowcone and popcorn machines. By this, I mean that I was in charge of ordering things like butter and ice so we can actually make the popcorn and snow cones.

Position assessment:
As we get to the end of the year, I have been involved in multiple things in leadership. Even though the year is windinging down, the amount of work is definitely not. Something I do every month is student of the month. This involves choosing two students to be the recipients of this acknowledgment and then the whole process begins. When the students are chosen, we set up an interview and ask them various questions that let us get to know them more. Then we make publicity for the said individuals and recognize them for all their hard work. Another thing that me and my team have been working on is study buddy night. It is coming up very soon and we still have multiple things to do. All snacks have been ordered and I have finished all publicity but there are still other key aspects that need to be accomplished. Another thing I participated in was Love Ripon like the rest of the class. I volunteered for the bless our teachers and librarians project and it was so much fun. I felt like a little kid again because we were basically doing arts and crafts the entire time. We made cards for local librarians and teachers which was so much fun. I am so glad that I got to participate in Love Ripon. Finally, I just got told today that I get to be a committee lead for the Kyoto project. So far I haven’t been involved in much but I am planning to get more involved and help out as much as I can
Standing Committee:
I was not apart of any standing committees at this time
Special Committees:
I was not apart of any special committees at this time
Mentorship Evaluation:
As the year wraps up I am really fortunate to have had Payton as my mentor. She has such a great personality and it really is to go to if I need help. She is seriously one of the friendliest people that I have ever met and I’m so glad that she is my mentor. This month our schedules have been so busy but we have planned a lunch for next week so that we can just talk and catch up. Payton is someone I really look up to and I am so glad that she is the ASB vice president next year. I know she is going to kill it and I am so proud of her.
Concerns:
As the school year is almost over my main concern is people entering break mode now. It is really tempting to tune everything out and go into summer vacation mode and I’m afraid that it’s happening to people inside of leadership. We still have one last event we get to plan as a class and I am so excited for that but I just hope other people are as well. I really want everyone to pick it up and finish these last three weeks strong.
Positive Comment:
I would like to give my positive comment to Jenna. She has been elected our ASB president for the next school year and I am so happy for her. She has already started to work and fulfill her duties as ASB president. She has so much on her plate and yet she handles everything so incredibly well. Jenna is always reminding people about the things that need to get done and it is so helpful. I am so excited for next year because I know that Jenna is going to be an absolute force to be reckoned with as ASB president.
Change:
One change I would like to see goes along with my concern. I would like to see the change in attitude from my peers in leadership. It is really easy to just slack off on everything right now but we need to finish this year strong. We can’t do anything if everyone is stuck in the mentality of just getting the rest of this year over with. We need to be strong and united as a class so this year can end on a good note and I am hoping that we can pull that off.
My Impact
Throughout the course of my sophomore year in leadership I hope that I have left the impact of being a kind, selfless, and hardworking leader. All through the year I have worked countless hours to make sure that I always stayed on top of all my work as well as put in extra effort to make sure everything was perfect. I hope people inside and outside of the leadership program know that they can come to me whenever they need any type of help at all. I have worked to strengthen my relationships with my leadership peers and I really hope that shows. My impact is something that I have been working on and something I will continue to work on for the rest of my life.
