Position Assessment:
So far the beginning of Junior year has been really busy. The first thing I had to tackle actually started before sophomore year was over. Because class t-shirt sales happen before the school year starts at POW WOW, I wanted to make sure all the paperwork needed was completed. I filled out a cash box request form and turned it into Davina in May. After that was completed I started to work on the procedure form for class t-shirt sales. To discuss the details of clothing sales and the designs of the class t-shirts, the entire Junior class met at my house for a few hours and knocked everything out. Then the other class officers and myself had a meeting to finalize who was bringing what decorations. After this was set, and shifts were decided everything was ready for POW WOW and it went pretty well. The next thing I tackled was Core Camp. I’m so glad I got to do this year because I was able to become closer to my peers and learn more about my job. At core camp I was able to put on a fundraiser along with other secretaries and treasures from other schools and we ended up making the most money the camp has made in a while. While at Core Camp we decided our theme for Homecoming as well. Our theme ended up being Liv and Maddie and the winterfest theme is One Direction. As far as the Homecoming theme goes, there has been a shift in attitude towards it and might be changed to Scooby Doo pending how our class meeting with Morty goes. Whether we choose Liv and Maddie or Scooby Doo, Gia and I have been working on drawing sketches and laying things out for each design so that it’ll be easier to order things from amazon. I am in charge of the lip sync again this year so I have finished the audio for the dance and will start coming up with choreography soon. Apart from Homecoming and class t-shirts, I have also been busy with my special committees as well. One of the biggest ones is Kyoto. For this we are currently looking for families to take in kids from Japan and as of right now we still need to find quite a bit of homes. Once we find homes we can work out the details and that’s what our Kyoto meeting is for. My other special committee I have been busy with is My Intent. Gia and I are running my intent this year and so far we have gotten everything ready for club rush. I filled out an announcement and sent over our poster for sales during the club rush. I also filled out a cash box form for my intent as well. Finally, these past few months I have been really trying to be there for the Freshmen and any new students. I helped the freshmen get a hang of their paperwork and am trying my best to be a support system for all of them. In the near future I need to start working on Gallery of the Arts as well as Kyoto and of course more Homecoming activities.
Standing Committee:
For my standing committee I am a part of Link Crew at Ripon High school. During the summer I was very involved with Link Crew as we were gearing up to host our big event which of course was Freshmen orientation. We started with a training day earlier this month to get everything set for August 8th which was our Freshmen orientation day. During this training day we were able to do some ice breakers that included huggy bear and a laugh line. This was a way to get to know the other link crew leaders better if we didn’t know them already. We also went over a few chants and then closed the day off with going over the agenda for orientation. As far as prepping for my group goes, we already had a poster made that Chloe saved from 8th grade day so we were good on that end. I wanted to buy some spirit items for my group of kids so I purchased red bandanas from amazon and each kid in my group was able to get one. I also made rainbow loom bracelets for each person in my group and that was just a personal touch I wanted to add. Chloe brought candy and with that our group was complete. The chunk of the day was showing the freshmen around campus and just giving them some tips and tricks that we have learned over the years and with that the freshmen were off to their first day of high school!
Special Committee:
This year I am a part of a couple different special committees. The first one I am a part of is My Intent. Last year I was a trainee for My Intent but this year I get to lead the committee. As far as my intent goes, our first big project is bracelet sales at club rush. For this we have already written an announcement, filled out a cash box form, made publicity, and sent Morty a poster to print for club rush. At club rush we are taking pre-sales which we then will make the bracelets by hand. Later in the year around Dude be Nice time, we will bring out my intent once again but this time with the video and everything behind it.
Another special committee that I am a part of at this time is Kyoto. Kyoto is my fairly large special committee at this time. Revolving Kyoto there is so much that needs to be done in the near future. The first thing that needed to get done was that we needed to find houses for all 32 kyoto kids. We are still in the process of that as some people have confirmed and others have not yet. Other than that there are a lot of things that I need to tackle. Gia and I need to look at the plaques online to see which one to purchase. We have to put together a gift bag for each Kyoto student and in this bag we decided to have an RHS t-shirt, a hard shell garland, as well as something that the kids can wear to the disco dance. I have looked on amazon and found some glasses that I think would be great to wear for the disco dance. Gia and I also talked to Ms. Ochoa about the garlands and she is going to send over the contact information for her person as soon as possible. Another part of the exchange program is the aspect of cultural exchange. At the rally, the Kyoto kids will be performing their own traditional routine whatever that may be. For our side of the cultural exchange we were hoping to bring in cheer, band, and choir to perform. We talked to Ms. Paxton about cheer and so far we should be good to go on that end all we have to do is email her the specifics of when the rally is occurring and the time frame for their routine. Another aspect we have to take into account is food. We will need to work with Jandy to order food through the cafeteria and we have the option of ordering pizza plus pizza for the students as well. For desserts we were thinking about bundt cakes but we have to figure out the pricing of everything and stay under our budget. Finally we have to create a committee of three to help us with the entire Kyoto process. I’m still thinking about who I want the three to be. We also have two possible candidates in mind to be our trainees for the program and we are going to go through the details with them later on. We still have a lot to accomplish but right now we are establishing the base of everything.
Mentorship Evolution:
I have always been one who loved the mentorship program! This year my mentorship partner is Camden. Camden is a sophomore this year and she’s super cool. I reached out to her a little bit after we got our mentorship pairing in the summer to be there as a person she could come to if she wanted to ask any questions. We were trying to plan a little hang out but that didn’t end up happening because of our busy schedules. Nonetheless, we kept in touch through text and Camden has been very good about asking questions whenever she needs help. So far I have helped her with her website as well as just giving her general advice for the school year as she and her officer team are diving head first into homecoming. We also went to lunch and that was really fun. Camden is so easy to talk to and is super relatable. She has a lot of the same teachers that I had sophomore year so if she ever needs advice with any of her classes I would be able to help her with that. Overall I’m really excited to see Camden grow as she continues her journey in leadership and I hope I can continue to be someone she can come to when she needs help with anything at all!
Concerns/ Change:
One concern I have is that not everyone completely understands the full extent of their job in the program, especially the newbies. Now joining leadership for the first time can be super confusing because there are so many things being thrown at you, but in the end it is your own responsibility to know what you have to accomplish. So far it already shows who is putting in more effort to learn their position and try to fulfill it to it’s best potential and who’s just waiting around until they are told to do something. Part of leadership is knowing when to step up even when no one asks you to and that’s what needs to be done right now. I had a thought, it might not work out but it’s an idea for change. Like we have the mentorship pairings, I think it would be really helpful to have job pairings. For this I think it would be ideal to group people based on their jobs where there are people that know what they are doing and then there are newbies that should ask questions. I think this is really important, specifically for admin, because there is so much paperwork we have to handle. In order to work well together as an officer team, each officer should know what their responsibilities are. As far as commissioners go, maybe newbies and get to know the old commissioner that had their role previously. This way they have something new to learn and no one person has to pick up the slack for everyone else.
Positive Comment:
Throughout these past couple of weeks I have been really observing who is taking the initiative to try and become a better leader. I really want to shout out Aiyana, Colt, and Hailey. The freshmen class has been productive overall but I wanted to highlight these three individuals for going the extra mile from my perspective. A really important part of being a better leader is asking questions so you don’t run into anything blind. I have gotten several text messages and even phone calls and facetime calls from these three whenever they have questions. This to me shows that they really want to be in the program and that they want to expand their knowledge so they can be better leaders in the future which is so incredibly important to me. These three have also made an effort to learn the paperwork aspect of leadership which everyone should know. Without paperwork, nothing can get done so it’s so important to build that habit early. I hope they continue to want to learn more because that is something that cannot be taught to everyone, and in them I see a drive to be successful.
Core Principles:
The Core Principles are ones that are really important to practice all year round. With that being said I think that so far I’m doing a pretty good job at staying true to them. For be impeccable, so far I have given everything that I take onto my plate my full effort. There are so many things this year that are pulling me in different directions but I have been giving each thing the attention it deserves. For the core principle that says, your puzzle piece matters, I have been working on trying to involve everyone in the class with different activities. As admin I think that making sure everyone is involved is crucial. I don’t want anyone to feel left out or like they’re not doing anything. This is the core principle that I want to improve on just because I think there is definitely a lot more that can be done to involve the class and not just the officer team. The third core principle is, the beacon of empowerment. This is one that I am really passionate about because I believe that things like words of affirmation are really important. Sometimes we don’t know what someone is going through and just something simple like, I really like how you shared your ideas in class today, can brighten up a person's day. I have been really trying to tell someone new everyday that I appreciate something about them so they know that they are in the leadership class for a reason. Last but not least, we have evolve and grown with change. This is a big one in leadership generally, but it is especially important this year. There have been some major changes this year starting off with our learning environment. We are now in a classroom and although it may be smaller than we like, we are growing with the change. We are figuring out ways to make it work as a team. Within my own Junior class, we have almost double the amount of people we had last year so I am adapting to the size and trying to think of new ideas so everyone is involved. Throughout the year many things will change, we just have to adapt as we go.
Impact:
These past few months, the impact I hope I have had on my peers, not in leadership but outside of it as well, is that they feel supported by me. It’s still crazy to think that I'm upperclassmen but that means that I can be a support system to underclassmen who are still trying to figure things out. On a daily basis I try to at least reach out to one person and ask if they need any help with anything. That may be with homework, or maybe they just have a question about high school in general. I have been really trying to emphasize early on that I am there for anyone who needs me so that in the future if they ever come across any problems, they can come to me. In the future when I leave RHS, I hope that people will remember me for always being supportive and someone who is approachable.

Position Assessment:
This month has been another busy month that has been pulling me in so many different directions. As far as my position in the Junior class I have been handling a lot of the paperwork, ordering, and organizing the lip sync and other decorations. As soon as this month started it was really important that our class got everything ordered from Amazon so it would be here on time. I looked at amazon and created a list of things to purchase. I shared that document with everyone so it would be easier to know what we are ordering and everything is here now. The next step I need to take is to actually check all the inventory and make sure that everything is here. The other big project that I have been working on is the lip sync dance. For the lip sync, Gia and I finished the mix and I sent it to Spencer ahead of time for approval so we’re good as far as that goes. In order to actually choreograph the dance, Gia, Gaby, Abby, and I met up at my house and we got that knocked out. The first official lip sync practice was on wednesday September 20th and I think it went pretty well. Gaby, Gia, and Abby couldn’t be there so I taught the first part of the dance and right now that part looks really good and clean so I’m excited for that. I also got everyone to order their outfits for the lip sync and have checked everyone off for their outfits. Along with the lip sync, as a class we have also been working on every other decoration for homecoming. We have blueprints of what we want to do and so we have just been building little parts of the bigger picture. So far our work days have been pretty productive. We have been moving a lot faster than last year and each task seems to get done more efficiently. Overall, a lot of this month has been prepping for homecoming and hopefully everything in the future goes smoothly.
Standing Committee:
For my standing committees I am a part of Link Crew at Ripon High School. Since the last ASB report, we focused mainly on back to school night. For this night we lingered around and helped parents get to the right classes. This night was very successful as every parent found their way to each class and everything ran very smoothly. In the future we have study buddy night coming up. As this quarter wraps up, we are that much closer to the end of the semester and with finals coming up, study bus night will be crucial.
Special Committee:
I am in a couple special committees but the one that has been predominantly taking over is Kyoto. For Kyoto we have been organizing many things. We have finished all the student gift bags which contain a variety of goodies for each of them. During the process of this, Gia and I ordered all the materials from amazon and once the gift bags came in we started assembling. Me and my team worked on filling each bag and making sure that everything was included in every single bag. I then cut out the name tags and they were written by Rylee, Gia, Aiyana, and Hailey and put them on each bag. Now that all the staff and student bags are done, we need to work on completing the host family bags which are 16 in total. Another thing that we have been working on is the rally. For this it has been really important to confirm all of the performances so that the rally commissioners know what they’re doing. I have emailed Ms. Paxton about cheer and Mr. Felver about band and will be sending them more details as they need. I have also been trying to reach out to FFA about cooking for our annual Kyoto lunch and I’m still waiting for a response back on that end. With everything crazy going on, I feel like we are on track with Kyoto but more work still needs to be finished in order to have an amazing event.
My other special committee that has played a dominant role in the past couple months is My Intent. We sold bracelets at club rush and got them distributed to all the people that ordered them. We had a really strong turn out this year with selling over 50 bracelets. I have also been combining this project with the Kyoto project as I made ten bracelets that say Blossom on them for each staff member in Kyoto. Our next big project will be tackled in November with Dude be nice as we will be selling the bracelets once again. I have better learned how to make each bracelet which hopefully will allow me to be more efficient in the future.
Mentorship Evolution:
My mentorship partner is Camden. Recently we have been working on trying to get to know each other better. We have a lot of things in common which were really showcased throughout the goal making assignment that we were given by Payton. Through this I really got to see how similar we are in terms of school work and just work ethic in general. When we went to Coffee House it was so much fun hearing her talk about the classes she currently has because I remember being in her shoes just last year. We have both agreed that we want to try our best to get to know each other better than we did going into this mentorship pairing. So far everything has been great in terms of getting to know each other. Once the crazy of Homecoming and Kyoto are over I would really like to hang out with Camden outside of school. We wanted to go see a movie after Core Camp but that wasn’t possible because of our busy schedules but hopefully in the near future we can get around to that.
Concerns:
One concern that I have is people’s attitude towards the events we are putting on as a class. There are some people that are super willing to help with anything and everything and that’s the energy that would be greatly appreciated from each person in leadership. I know that leadership is not easy and that most people have a million things going on but communication is key in that aspect. As long as the communication is there, there should be no reason for conflict because everything was already covered. I just hope that during the actual week of homecoming everyone understands the expectations and the amount of effort that needs to be put into each project because this is a really important event not only to our high school but to the Ripon community as well.
Positive Comment:
My positive comment for this month goes to Tori. Tori is new to the program this year but she sure has been stepping it up. Whenever I look like I am super overwhelmed with things to do, Tori always asks if there is anything she can do to help. I really appreciate this from her because it shows me that she is someone I can really rely on when things need to be done. I asked her to cut me a few tablecloths and the next day she finished all of them. She just brings a sense of drive and passion along with everything she does and to me, that’s what a strong leader represents. She has also been working so much with her position as public relations and I constantly see her working on publicizing and overall making sure the student body stays informed. I am so proud of Tori and I am glad to say she is a part of our Junior Class family.
Change:
One change that I want to make in the program is for people to reach out and help each other. I know that during homecoming things can get a bit tense because we are putting on class competitions but at the end of the day, this is for our student body so we shouldn’t want each other to fail. This year I definitely feel like there is less tension in the air than previous years but I just hope it stays that way going through homecoming.
Core Principle:
I feel like this month I have really embodied the core principle, “Your puzzle piece matters” because with everything homecoming I have been trying to delegate things for other people to do so they feel involved as well. I have also been working hard to tell at least one person a week how much I appreciate them and the work that they are putting into the program so they know that what they are doing does make an impact on the rest of the program. One Core principle that I need to work on is “Evolve and grow with change”. This has always been one that I feel like I have struggled with the most just because I am the type of person who likes to stick with what I know. Homecoming every year always tests this limit so we’ll see how that happens this year.
Impact:
I believe I have made an impact not just on leadership but outside of leadership as well as being someone who is approachable and understanding. There are many people that signed up for the lip sync but have to miss a couple of the practices and I have been trying my best to get them caught up because I know that not everyone has a bunch of free time 24/7. I’m not the type of person to get mad at someone for not coming to a practice as long as they communicate that with me ahead of time. I hope that I am also someone who can be a place of comfort for those who know me at RHS and someone who is always a helping hand.

Position Assessment:
From the end of October, up to this point, there has been a lot going on. As Homecoming wrapped up, my main focus was on Kyoto and making sure that everything was going to go smoothly there. Kyoto arrived on the 11th and my team and myself had already pre-prepared all of the gift bags so we didn’t need to scramble to make them. As each of the families arrived, their kids were matched with them and finally me and my family got to meet Kaito and Naoki. With Kyoto, other than hanging out with my kids in Kyoto, I spoke at the Kyoto rally and introduced the kyoto program. On the last friday that Kyoto was here, Gia and I came up with a lesson plan that was fun for us to do with everyone together and I would say that it went pretty well. Finally, the last step of Kyoto was saying goodbye on the following Monday morning. After Kyoto ended, my attention was immediately shifted towards Dude Be Nice week. We had an officer meeting with Morty to solidify each of the themed days and everything that needed to be ordered for Dude Be Nice. I filled out multiple purchase orders to make sure everything we needed was here for Mr. Herrin. Along with being in charge of ordering everything and making sure it was getting here on time, I was also responsible for the procedure form that was due after thanksgiving break and I got that all done and turned in on time. When everything for the basket was finally here I assembled the basket and we got to hand it to Mr. Herrin. Claire was in charge of presenting each club during the rally and Isaiah and stood off to the sides of Mr. Herrin so we could help him in case he needed it. Finally, the last big part of these last couple months was winterfest. For winterfest, we did the decorations at my house which was the most convenient. We reused a lot of the stuff we had for the lemonade stand like the garland and ornaments and I feel like it really came together in the end. We knew we didn’t want to paint the lemonade stand so instead we wrapped and I am so glad we did.
Standing Committees:
I am not officially a part of any standing committees. However, I did help balloon crew with the kindness balloons for Dude Be Nice week in November. We met up early in the morning before school started and we tied the white ribbons to the balloons. After doing that for a little bit, we helped pass out the balloons to the teachers who requested them by placing three in their classrooms. Finally after all the kindness balloons were passed out, I assisted in helping them finish the girls league balloons and place those in Morty’s office.
Special Committees:
Kyoto and My Intent are both special committees that wrapped up in these past couple of months. With Kyoto we welcomed the exchange students who were early but we still made it work. We matched each of the students with their families and gave them each their gift bags that we had prepared prior to their arrival. Once all of the students were matched with their host families, it was really up to them to introduce them to our culture since America is a lot different than Japan. As far as being in charge of the event, our focus was not only on doing fun stuff with our Kyoto students but it was also focused on Friday the 13th. For that Friday I had to make sure everything was good with lunch so I talked to Jandy and Mr.B again to confirm everything. Once that was good, Gia and I sat with Elias and Ricky and finished and memorized parts of the script. Then, once that Friday came Gia and I set up for it and did our parts to introduce Kyoto. I left a couple minutes early along with my committee to go set up the lunch that was happening right after. When the rally was over, all of leadership and Kyoto came to enjoy the lunch and everyone helped clean up afterwards. Finally, Gia and I had made a lesson plan for the leadership class period on friday to have fun and build trust which was awesome. On the following Monday after the weekend, we arrived at the school early and said goodbye to all the Kyoto students and staff.
Mentorship:
My mentee this year is camden and through the various mentorship assignments and just hanging out with her, I have gotten to know her so much better. Camden is so good about asking me questions whenever she needs help or is confused and I think that’s such a good thing to do. She is never afraid to ask anything and I feel like we have really built that trust between the two of us. I don’t see her as younger than me and sometimes I forget that she actually is a year younger than me. One of my favorite parts in these past couple of months was setting up for winter formal. I see the work ethic that Camden has and it is going to take her far. Decorating the little pumpkin with her was so much fun. Even though we both claim we are not artists, we still made it work and the point of the activity was to bond with your mentorship partner which was amazing. For the snap raise fundraiser I made a template for us to use and I had Camden send over too of her favorite leadership pictures because I wanted the post to reflect both of us. Finally we decorated the posters for Warm and Fuzzy and although it was a challenge because no one knew anything about the teachers we had, we still had fun and made it work.
Concerns/change:
One concern that I have developed through the last couple months is that I see people checking out already. While there are those people in the program who are constantly making the effort to improve and try their best, there are others that are just simply existing in the program if that makes sense. I know that finals are coming up and that everyone just wants to go to break already but at the same time, it is really important that we don’t check out because when we come back from break we kick things in high gear with winterfest. I feel like there is also a lack of motivation because after homecoming and Kyoto things died down a little bit, but the events we are putting on now are just as important as homecoming and kyoto were.
Positive:
I want to give a shout out to Emme for leading her team and running winter formal. I was there in the morning when they were decorating and I really saw how much thought Emme put into all the decorations and everything. Emme and her team were up late the night before prepping things and up early in the morning to finish everything and I am so proud of them for that. I know that planning winter formals can be so stressful but they did an amazing job. On top of that, they executed their tree and lemonade stand beautifully even after being so focused on winter formal.
Core Principles:
I have embodied the first core principle which is to grow and evolve with change by adapting during winterfest in multiple scenarios. During winterfest instead of painting the lemonade stand we wrapped it because we learned through experience that wrappin it is what works for us. I also adapted with change because everything did not go to plan with Kyoto, but we were still able to have a successful experience. I have also embodied the core principle, to be impeccable by always making an effort to show up and try my best. Some days I don’t always feel 100% but I am always willing to give 100% of what I do have in that time and place. I also feel like I have embodied the third core principle which is the beacon of empowerment because in these past couple months, I have constantly been working to help my peers who are newer to the program to help them feel better about themselves and more confident in what they are doing. Finally, the last core principle is one that I feel like I can work more on. That core principle is your puzzle piece matters. By this I mean that I definitely feel like I can do a better job at involving and communicating with the rest of my Junior classmates. This is something I really want to work on in the second half of the year so everyone feels like they belong.
My Impact:
In the past couple of months, I feel like my impact lies within being able to pass on the leadership knowledge I have to other people who are newer to the program. I can’t begin to say how glad I am that people feel comfortable enough to ask me questions this year. As an upperclassman in the program, and the fact that it’s my third year in the program, really allows me to be able to give the best advice I can. In the past couple of months so many people have asked me questions about all sorts of paperwork and other things and I feel like that really shows me that I have been doing my job right. I really hope that as we go on through the second half of the year I can be here as a resource especially to those who have less experience in the program.

Position Assessment:
Most of this month was focused on winterfest. I filled out the purchase order for winterfest supplies before we went to break in order to ensure that I would have the time to actually order supplies and for them to get in on time. Over break, I took some time and planned out some ideas of what we could work on as far as the decorations went. We knew that the poster would be done first so we decided to tackle that. We met up at my house and on the first day we outlined everything to ensure the poster was ready to paint the following weekend. Then when that next weekend rolled around, whoever was able to make it came to my house and we worked for a few hours to finish the entire poster. After the poster was done we shifted our attention to the lemonade stand. Elias helped transport the lemonade stand to my house and we finished the stand that day. The morning of the lemonade stand competition, Elias picked up the stand from my house and then we all met up early at school so that we could set everything up. Finally, all that was left was the shopping cart. Elias and I went to pick up the cart from dollar tree and we spent hours decorating it to make sure it looked good. With all this going on, I have also been working on the procedure form for winterfest as there are a lot of aspects that go into it. I have made a list of thank you cards that need to be written now I just have to delegate those to the other juniors in leadership that want to help. In the coming months my team and I hope to continue working on prom to make sure we are ahead of the game when April rolls around.
Standing Committees:
As far as standing committees go, I am currently in the middle of the Link crew application process. I was a part of link crew last year and hope to be a part of it again this year. Link crew is responsible for 8th grade day as well as freshmen orientation. Link Crew leaders are split into groups in hopes of allowing the freshmen to feel more comfortable and open up instead of being in a big group where there are a lot of people.
Special Committees:
In the spring semester, the special committee that I am a part of is the Gallery of the Arts committee. This year, Gia and I are the leads so we have already started preparing things in advance. Morty sent a facility form request as well as a maintenance request for the MUB and for the triangles to be taken off the stage. I checked the inventory for black and white paper as well as staples and staple guns and because we just ordered some last year we have enough of everything. Because we had our basic supplies, Gia went onto amazon and found prizes for the top three winners from the actual event. I filled out the purchase order and actually ordered all the supplies from amazon and everything is here. We also chose Justin and Evangeline trainees for the future of the program. Along with that I also made 8 groups for the 8 different triangles that need to be wrapped and hopefully the groups I’ve made are even and a lot of work gets done. Finally, I drafted an email with everything that we have done so far and I sent that to Morty and she forwarded it to everyone else in order to give them an update on all our progress.
Mentorship:
My mentor buddy is Camden and in the month of January we worked on our vision boards. Our goals are really similar so it was fairly easy to make one combined vision board. I’m glad we didn’t switch mentor buddies at the semester this year because it has really allowed me to maintain my connection with Camden. She is never afraid to ask questions and I always try my best to answer them. Going forward into the last half of the year I hope to go to lunch more and just hang out more in general because I know her pretty well but there are a lot of things I don’t know about her. Concerns/Change
Some concerns that I have are about going into elections. Election week is always stressful so I hope everyone is able to handle that stress and not turn on each other. Every year the environment in leadership shifts based on who is running for what and I hope that it can be avoided this year. A change from past elections that might help with this issue is everyone just focusing on their campaign and putting their foot forward. At the end of the day, the result will reflect the effort put into the campaign as well as just everything we have done leading up to it so there is no point in creating bad blood with anyone else.
Positive Comment:
My positive comment for this month is for Ricky. I definitely feel like he has stepped into the role of being a leader so much more lately and he has been so incredibly helpful. He was always the last one left at the end of decoration days and that to me just shows his commitment to the junior class and the leadership program as a whole. Ricky is involved with so many other things at Ripon high and outside of school so the fact that he always shows up and communicates means so much to me. It may be Ricky’s first year in leadership, but he certainly does not act like it. He isn’t afraid to handle responsibility and he has quickly become someone I can trust with the most complex of tasks. I am so grateful for all he has done since the beginning of the year and especially for winterfest when others didn’t even show up.
Core Principles:
Something that I have really worked on this month was the core principle, be impeccable. Throughout winterfest it’s so easy to give up and lose motivation. I tried my best to stay motivated throughout the entire week. To be honest, I didn’t always feel like decorating for winterfest, but yet I didn’t miss any decorations. I have also been trying to put my best foot forward in everything I do and I really do feel like my effort is making an impact on my results. The core principle that I need to work on is the beacon of empowerment. Lately I have been focusing more on self improvement and I feel like I can do a better job at empowering others around me as well, especially when times are stressful.
My Impact:
On campus this year I hope I have left the impression that I am someone who is willing to help others when they need help. From the very beginning of the year my goal was to reach out to a different person at least once a week. I have realized that now this goal has become a habit and I find myself asking if others need help before they ask for it. I strongly believe that everyone’s puzzle piece matters and that our school community is incomplete without everyone a part of it. If there is anything I can do to help people who don’t feel a part of the RHS community, I always try my best to do so.

Position Assessment:
As winterfest came to a close, things just got more and more busy. February started off with election season. In order to ensure that I was ready for elections I made sure to get all my posters made ahead of time and I also got my speech turned in on time. The day I was planning on putting up all my posters ended up being a very stormy day so I just put everything up on Monday morning. Everything went smoothly including speeches so I was really thankful for that. After the election season was over for me, I started to focus more on my committee work and things for next year's leadership class. I have been working on designing the quarter zips for next year and I have come up with three designs on IZA. Those designs are going to be put into a google form for everyone in next year's leadership class to fill out. Besides future prep work, I have also been working on the challenge. Payton and I are the leads for the gift to the student body committee so we worked on getting everything ready for the dance. I started the checklist to keep track of everything and rehearsed my slide for the presentation last week. I have alo scripted up the water request form from Savemart when we need that. As far as prom goes, the Junior officers have met with Mayfield and started the whole process of planning the dance and all the publicity. We got in contact with Jennifer who is the decorator and we are going to visit the venue on Monday. Mina has also made the prom account where the theme and date of prom have been released. Everything for prom so far has been going really smoothly and hopefully it continues to flow until the date of the event. Aside from planning events, I was also a part of the interview panel for 8th grade interviews. I am so thankful to have been a part of the panel alongside Jenna, Spencer, and Payton because they are very wise in the decisions they make. I am excited for next year's class and in the upcoming weeks I hope to get everything prepped for clothing and journals as I have the full list of everyone in leadership.
Standing Committees:
The standing committee that I am a part of is Link Crew. In February we held the annual 8th grade day for students who will be coming to Ripon high school next school year. For this event Ximena asked if I could make the welcome poster and I gladly did so. I spent 2 days painting the poster in my garage to make sure it was done by 8th grade day. All of link crew welcomed the 8th grade buses with the poster and a tunnel. After all the students were seated in the North Gym, the rally commissioners took over and introduced both Mr. Rangel and Ms, Vashe. After this, Morty led everyone in a couple crowd warmers. My group stayed in the North Gym for the first session. After that, we led our students to the AG building and observed all the amazing things the AG program had showcased. Then came lunch and we led our group out to the grass area and after all the 8th graders got their food, we got ours. The day then ended with too more sessions and returning to the gym. After the 8th graders left, I helped clean up and set up for 8th grade parent night. 8th grade day went well and it was such a good experience meeting the future freshmen.
Special Committee:
The main special committee that I was focused on in February and March was the Gallery of the Arts committee. Morty was gone the week before the actual event so Gia and I had to make sure that everything was in order for when she came back. I emailed Felver about the guest speaker and Gia made the poster for that. I also emailed Christina in the cafeteria to get all food items prepared for this event. Gia worked on the reels aspect of the publicity and I delegated the actual instagrams posts. I drafted up all the publicity that needed to be made and I sent it out into our group chat where multiple people were able to make different posts and I am so thankful for that. Gia and I came in early on Monday morning and put up the posters that were printed out by Morty. Setting up for Gallery is a very tedious process and so we needed all the time we could get. Monday was spent taking staples out of the triangles and cutting all the paper for each triangle. Tuesday was the day that all the triangles were covered with the black paper and Wednesday was when we set everything up. This took until about 4:30 and then I picked up water and plates from Savemart and when I got back to the school I finished setting everything up. Once the night was coming to a close I presented the winners for both poetry and Art. The next morning I wrote the announcement for that and since then I have worked on finishing the procedure form which was turned in on Wednesday.
Mentorship
These past couple months have been very busy but I am glad that we have mentorship projects to keep mentors connected. This month the big project has been the coloring book and letter. I really enjoyed writing the letter because it was so easy to talk about how much I have enjoyed being paired with Camden this year. We were also able to work on the 5 dysfunctions assignment together and it was really great to hear her perspective on the different key points. After working on the packet in class together, we decided to split up the rest of the work evenly and we both did our part on time. Camden has learned so much since the beginning of this year and I am so proud of her.
Concerns/Change
One concern that I have right now is that some people are starting to put in less effort into everything because the school year is nearing an end. We still have so many things to work on and if people die off now that will not be good. I hope to see a change in people’s attitudes because events like the challenge cannot be executed with only a few people helping. It’s really easy to check out now but this part of the year is more crucial than any other because everyone is so busy but things still need to get done.
Positive Comment
My positive comment for this month goes to Jenna because I see how hard she has been working lately. Throughout this entire year Jenna has worked so incredibly hard but I wanted to recognize her now specifically because of her work with the challenge. Jenna got everything organized prior to assigning things to our class and that is no easy task. It must have taken her days of work and I am just so proud of everything she has accomplished. Jenna’s organization is off the charts and I hope that I can live up to her standards next year. Aside from all the work she puts in, I also just want to thank Jenna for being such an amazing friend. Ever since freshman year, she has really been someone that I could go to for anything and I really appreciate her for that.
Core Principles
As everything is getting super busy, the core principles are important now more than ever. I have tried my best to embody each and every core principle but the one that I think I fell short on was the beacon of empowerment. I have been so wrapped up in doing my own committee work that I forget to encourage others for all the amazing things that they are doing as well. In the last quarter of the school year I really want to focus on this core principle because I do think that it is so crucial to let others know that they are doing a good job at whatever it is that they are trying to accomplish. For the other Core Principles, I have done a bit better. My whole election speech was centered around the fact that everyone’s puzzle piece matters and that’s because it is truly something that I live by. I have also been impeccable by trying my best and devoting all my energy to making sure everything that I am a part of ends up being a success. Most of all, I have evolved and grew with change. This month, so many different things have been thrown my way and instead of backing out I have faced everything head on and persevered.
My Impact
Recently I have been working on being more mindful with how I treat people who are close to me. I don’t tell them enough how thankful I am for their presence in my life so this month I have really been working on verbalizing my love for them. I hope that they never doubt how glad I am that they are a part of my life because I really don’t know what I would do without them.
